Job Overview:

A well-established law firm is seeking a Family Law Attorney to assist clients with a range of sensitive legal issues including child custody, child abuse, domestic violence, divorce, prenuptial agreements, alimony, and child support. The ideal candidate will possess strong negotiation skills, the ability to work under pressure, and a passion for helping clients during difficult times. The position offers remote work flexibility with a competitive salary and benefits.

Location:

  • Chicago, IL

Duties:

  • Manage the division of marital assets, including real estate, during divorce proceedings.
  • Attend court hearings and represent clients in family law matters.
  • Communicate with senior partners and paralegals to efficiently move cases through the litigation process.
  • Organize and maintain client files, ensuring they are up-to-date and properly documented.
  • Draft legal documents such as pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, contracts, judgments, and orders for a high volume of cases.
  • Contribute to the firm’s business development efforts by handling incoming potential client calls.
  • Take responsibility for collection rate and accounts receivables related to assigned clients.

Requirements:

  • At least 1-2 years of experience in family law, with experience in real estate division during divorce.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, especially in high-pressure, emotional situations.
  • Member in good standing with the American Bar Association (ABA).
  • Licensed to practice law in the state of Illinois.
  • Must live within the firm’s coverage area (Kane, Cook, Lake, DuPage, and Will Counties).
  • Ability to handle complex family law matters, including child custody and support, alimony, and divorce.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a high volume of cases.
  • Passion for family law and the ability to help clients through difficult personal situations.
  • Comfortable using technology in legal practice, including Microsoft Office, Google Suite, CRMs, time tracking software, Slack, Zoom, etc.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • 4-year undergraduate degree with a legal background required.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Illinois.

Skills:

  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in emotionally charged situations.
  • Legal research and writing skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and legal software applications (e.g., CRMs, time tracking software).
  • Ability to handle high-stress situations and prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Experience with virtual communication platforms such as Slack and Zoom.
