A law firm seeks an accomplished Senior Associate or Special Counsel specializing in litigation and regulatory enforcement in the areas of privacy and data security. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing complex privacy-related cases, regulatory investigations, and class actions. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile matters within a growing practice that tackles cutting-edge legal issues in cybersecurity and data privacy. Duties:

  • Litigation & Regulatory Enforcement:
    • Represent clients in privacy and data security-related disputes, including class actions and regulatory investigations.
    • Manage cases involving data breaches, consumer protection issues, and unfair trade practices.
    • Defend clients against claims under federal and state laws, including the Stored Communications Act and wiretapping claims.
  • Client Engagement & Project Leadership:
    • Lead and coordinate complex projects while maintaining direct communication with clients.
    • Provide strategic guidance on privacy and cybersecurity issues across various industries.
  • Legal Research & Analysis:
    • Conduct detailed research to support litigation, regulatory filings, and advisory work.
    • Keep clients informed on evolving privacy regulations and emerging risks in data security.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Work alongside other attorneys across multiple disciplines to support cybersecurity, intellectual property, and regulatory matters.
    • Collaborate with internal teams on integrated legal solutions for clients.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience focused on privacy and data security law, with expertise in litigation and/or regulatory enforcement.
  • Strong experience defending privacy class actions, including those related to data breaches and unfair trade practices.
  • Knowledge of consumer protection laws and regulations, including issues like wiretapping and the Stored Communications Act.
  • Proven ability to lead complex legal projects, manage clients, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills, with a strong attention to detail and clarity in legal documentation.
  • Tech-savvy, with a solid understanding of the evolving landscape of cybersecurity and data privacy law.

Education:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Current and active license to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
