Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking an experienced IP Litigation Associate to join its Patent Prosecution & Litigation Practice Group within the IP Litigation team. This position is available at multiple office locations and offers the opportunity to handle high-profile IP litigation cases. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in briefing and motions practice, depositions, working with experts, and managing PTAB or trial proceedings. The candidate should also have experience supervising junior associates and paralegals. A background in engineering and admission to the USPTO is highly preferred.

Location:

  • Huntsville, AL

Duties:

  • Manage and handle complex IP litigation cases from inception to resolution.
  • Conduct briefing and motions practice, including preparing and presenting legal arguments.
  • Take and defend depositions, work with expert witnesses, and manage case-related documentation.
  • Participate in PTAB and trial proceedings, coordinating with internal teams for case strategy.
  • Supervise junior associates and paralegals, providing mentorship and guidance.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders regarding case progress and outcomes.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in IP litigation.
  • Proven experience in briefing, motions practice, depositions, expert coordination, and case management.
  • Strong record of managing cases and supervising junior legal staff.
  • Engineering degree preferred.
  • USPTO admission is a plus.
  • Must be licensed to practice law in the relevant state or have the ability to become licensed.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) required.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in the state of employment.
  • USPTO registration is preferred but not required.

Skills:

  • Expertise in IP litigation and case management.
  • Experience with briefing, motions, depositions, and working with experts.
