Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications across a range of technical areas, primarily in mechanical and electrical engineering.
  • Assist in the preparation and filing of responses to office actions, including appeals and reexaminations.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and clients to develop patent portfolios and strategies.
  • Conduct patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses.
  • Provide legal opinions on intellectual property matters related to patents.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and regulatory bodies regarding patent filings and updates.
  • Support litigation teams on patent-related matters as needed.

Requirements:

  • 3-6 years of experience in patent prosecution, including experience with application drafting.
  • A degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Membership in the California State Bar.
  • Registration with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a similar technical discipline.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the California State Bar.
  • USPTO registration is required.
