Criminal Defense Associate Attorney

A law firm seeks a motivated Criminal Defense Associate Attorney to join its expanding team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of criminal and traffic law matters, including assault, DUI, felonies, reckless driving, drug-related offenses, and more. The firm is dedicated to providing high-quality legal services, and training will be provided for all new team members. Compensation includes a competitive salary and the opportunity to share in the firm’s profits through commission on billable work.

Duties

• Represent clients in criminal and traffic cases, providing comprehensive legal defense.
• Conduct legal research to support case preparation and strategy development.
• Manage a high volume of cases, ensuring deadlines are met and clients are kept informed.
• Collaborate with team members to provide excellent service and achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
• Participate in court appearances, trials, hearings, and settlement negotiations.
• Draft legal documents, including motions, briefs, and correspondence.
• Maintain organized case files and manage client communications effectively.

Requirements

• Membership in the Virginia State Bar, or a willingness to sit for the Virginia Bar Exam.
• Strong interest in criminal defense law, with a particular focus on traffic offenses, assault, DUI, and drug-related cases.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Comfortable handling a high volume of cases and meeting tight deadlines.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate within a team environment.
• Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
• Access to reliable transportation.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active Virginia State Bar membership or eligibility to sit for the Virginia Bar Exam.
