A law firm seeks an experienced Labor & Employment Attorney to lead its Labor & Employment Practice Group. This leadership role offers the support of a collaborative team and ample resources to grow your practice, mentor emerging professionals, and cultivate a balanced work environment without compensation-based pressures typical in other leadership positions.

Duties

  • Lead and manage the Labor & Employment Practice Group, providing strategic direction and oversight
  • Mentor, train, and inspire associate attorneys and staff within the practice group
  • Oversee litigation matters, including wage and hour class actions, PAGA actions, EDD disputes, and FEHA cases
  • Conduct legal and factual investigations and develop litigation strategies for client cases
  • Actively engage in client relationship management, ensuring effective communication and representation
  • Assist in creating HR compliance plans and performing wage and hour analyses
  • Maintain thought leadership in labor and employment law, representing the firm as an industry authority
  • Collaborate with other departments to promote teamwork and foster a supportive firm culture

Requirements

  • Proven track record as a labor and employment attorney with expertise in California labor law, wage and hour disputes, and employment litigation
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team, cultivating an inclusive and positive work environment
  • Excellent client relationship management abilities
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethics, civility, and teamwork
  • Familiarity with commission-based and piece-rate pay structures is an asset

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active membership in the California State Bar in good standing

Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of California labor laws, wage and hour regulations, and employment litigation procedures
  • Strong analytical, research, and writing skills
  • Effective communication skills with clients, colleagues, and other professionals
  • Ability to handle high-stakes litigation and complex employment cases independently
