Job Overview
A law firm is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Registered Funds Associate Attorney to join its team in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in registered investment companies and be knowledgeable about relevant regulatory frameworks. This role will involve advising clients on compliance, regulatory matters, and other legal issues related to investment funds.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice to clients on matters related to registered investment companies, including compliance with the Investment Company Act and Investment Advisers Act.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate various legal documents related to investment funds, including registration statements, prospectuses, and advisory agreements.
  • Assist clients in structuring and launching new investment products, including exchange-traded funds and variable insurance products.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on regulatory changes and their implications for clients.
  • Collaborate with business development teams to support client engagements and identify new business opportunities.
  • Represent clients in interactions with regulatory agencies, including the SEC and FINRA.
  • Monitor industry trends and best practices related to investment funds and guide clients.
  • Participate in client meetings, presentations, and other events as necessary.
  • Mentor and train junior attorneys and support staff in relevant areas of law.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the bar of the District of Columbia or eligibility for admission.
  • 3-6 years of experience working with registered investment companies.
  • Strong knowledge of the Investment Company Act and Investment Advisers Act.
  • Familiarity with exchange-traded funds, variable insurance products, business development companies, and commodities work is preferred.
  • Experience in a large law firm, in-house, or regulatory agency is a plus.

Certifications

  • Bar admission in the District of Columbia.
  • Additional certifications related to securities law or investment management are a plus.
