A law firm in Dallas is seeking a Junior to Mid-Level Government Contracts Associate Attorney to join its dynamic team. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with partners and play a critical role in handling a wide range of government contracts matters, including contract performance issues, litigation, and internal and external investigations. This role offers an opportunity to grow professionally while providing excellent service to clients in the government contracts field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide counseling on government contract performance issues to ensure compliance and resolve disputes.
  • Litigate Contract Disputes Act (CDA) claims, bid protests, and False Claims Act (FCA) cases.
  • Support internal and government investigations that arise in connection with government contracts.
  • Review contract and subcontract agreements, including Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) flow-downs.
  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, briefs, and other documents in support of the government contracts practice.
  • Provide support for regulatory and compliance matters related to government contracting.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legal developments and policies affecting government contracts.
  • Collaborate closely with partners and team members to meet the firm’s high standards of client service.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 2-4 years of relevant work experience in government contracts law, preferably within a law firm setting.
  • Licensing: Must be licensed to practice law and in good standing in the state where the hired candidate will be practicing (Texas preferred).
  • Prior experience in counseling clients on contract performance issues and litigating CDA claims, bid protests, and FCA cases is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to support both internal and government investigations.

Education & Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Bar Admission: Active membership in the Bar of the state where the candidate will practice (Texas preferred).

  • Strong writing, research, and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with clients and colleagues.
  • Superior organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Team-oriented approach with the ability to collaborate and work effectively with others.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency with legal research platforms (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).
  • Familiarity with FAR and DFARS regulations.
