Job Overview: A law firm seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Attorney to join its Trusts & Estates and Real Estate practice groups in Binghamton, NY, and Owego, NY. This full-time role is ideal for attorneys with 0-3 years of experience who are admitted to practice in New York. The successful candidate will handle a mix of estate planning and real estate transactions, offering comprehensive legal services to clients while working in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Duties:

Trusts & Estates:

  • Represent clients in the estate planning process, ensuring their assets are protected and their wishes are met.
  • Draft estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, and other relevant legal materials.
  • Assist clients with trust funding and provide advice on proper asset management.
  • Handle Surrogate’s Court filings and ensure compliance with court processes.
  • Manage trust and probate administration cases, ensuring deadlines are met.

Real Estate:

  • Represent clients in property purchases and sales, reviewing all relevant real estate documentation.
  • Advise clients on legal matters related to real estate transactions, ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
  • Draft and review real estate contracts and documents throughout the transaction process.
  • Handle title insurance underwriting, claims, and curative matters as needed.
  • Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations that impact real estate deals.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active New York Bar admission (required).
  • 0-3 years of experience in Trusts & Estates and/or Real Estate law, including relevant internships or clerkships.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to advocate effectively for clients.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously, meet deadlines, and maintain clear communication with clients.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in the state of New York (required).
