Entry-Level Immigration Attorney

Location:

• San Antonio, TX

Duties:

• Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
• Prepare and file various immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
• Manage a caseload of immigration cases from start to finish.
• Visit and conduct intakes with detained individuals at immigration centers.
• Review and adjust immigration applications/packets as needed to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Work with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on immigration law changes.
• Meet with potential clients for strategic immigration consultations and determine the appropriate legal strategy.
• Develop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court hearings or USCIS testimony.
• Provide legal analysis and guidance to clients regarding the potential benefits of their cases.
• Prepare and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases.

Requirements:

• At least 1 year of experience in immigration law (can include internships or prior law firm experience).
• Strong work ethic with a willingness to learn and grow in immigration law.
• Ability to manage cases efficiently while maintaining a high level of client service.
• Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate and strategize with colleagues.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required.
• Experience with family-based petitions, humanitarian cases, EOIR, detained cases, citizenship, and other USCIS applications is a plus.
• Experience with case management software preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Must be licensed to practice law in the state of Texas.

Skills:

• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Ability to handle diverse immigration cases independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
• Organizational skills to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
• Knowledge of immigration law, including family-based petitions, removal defense, and other USCIS applications.
