A law firm seeks a driven and enthusiastic new graduate to join their legal team in Springfield, IL. This full-time position is ideal for a recent law school graduate eager to start their career in personal injury and workers' compensation law. The firm offers a supportive and collaborative environment, with the opportunity to work directly under an attorney with over 40 years of experience. You will gain hands-on experience managing cases from inception to resolution while receiving guidance and mentorship.

Duties:

  • Assist with managing personal injury and workers' compensation cases from start to finish.
  • Evaluate potential claims and provide legal advice to prospective clients.
  • Draft and review legal documents including claims, motions, discovery responses, subpoenas, and pleadings.
  • Research case law and gather essential evidence such as medical records, insurance policies, and expenses.
  • Communicate with clients, medical providers, expert witnesses, insurance adjusters, and supporting witnesses to gather information.
  • Negotiate settlements and agreements on behalf of clients.
  • Represent clients at hearings, depositions, mediations, trials, and other legal proceedings.
  • Maintain detailed records and update the status of cases in the firm’s management system.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Membership in the Illinois state bar, or eligibility to become licensed.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact clearly and compassionately with clients.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple cases and deadlines.
  • Motivation to grow and develop within a collaborative team.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.

Certifications:

  • Active Illinois state bar membership, or eligibility for admission.

Skills:

  • Excellent legal research and writing skills.
  • Strong communication skills for effective client interactions and legal negotiations.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow in personal injury and workers' compensation law.
