Job Overview:
A reputable law firm based in Chattanooga, TN is looking to hire a skilled and experienced Estate Planning and Probate Attorney to join their Estate Planning and Administration section. This position requires working directly with clients to provide expert guidance on estate planning, probate, and tax-related matters. The ideal candidate will have experience advising fiduciaries, heirs, and beneficiaries, drafting essential estate planning documents, and managing both simple and contested probate cases.

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel on estate planning strategies, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and tax planning.

  • Represent fiduciaries, beneficiaries, and heirs in probate proceedings, including contested matters.

  • Draft and review estate planning documents, trust agreements, and probate-related pleadings.

  • Manage estate and trust administration, ensuring proper asset distribution, handling creditor claims, and ensuring tax compliance.

  • Collaborate with attorneys, clients, and other professionals for comprehensive probate administration.

  • Experience with probate litigation, including handling contested motions and hearings.

  • Advise on business succession planning and charitable giving strategies.

  • Stay informed on current federal and state laws regarding estate planning, probate, and tax regulations.

  • Coordinate with financial advisors, accountants, and other professionals to create holistic plans for clients.

  • Attend court hearings and client meetings when required.

  • Actively participate in business development activities such as client outreach and networking.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

  • Active Bar membership in Tennessee, or eligibility to seek admission to the Tennessee Bar.

  • At least five (5) years of experience in estate planning and probate law.

  • Strong knowledge of probate court procedures and estate tax laws.

  • Exceptional legal research, writing, and analytical capabilities.

  • Proficiency in managing multiple cases and deadlines efficiently.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Dedication to providing top-tier legal services with a focus on client needs.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership with the Tennessee State Bar, or eligibility for admission.
