Job Overview:

A law firm in Sacramento is seeking an experienced Estate Planning, Trusts, and Probate Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive legal counsel to clients on estate planning matters, manage complex trust administration, and assist with related legal matters, including business formation and contract negotiations. The role requires strong legal drafting skills, excellent client relationship management, and a deep understanding of estate, trust, and probate law. Candidates with experience in business transactions and proficiency with WealthCounsel and/or Hot Docs are preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert estate planning counsel to clients, addressing their unique needs and long-term goals.
  • Manage complex trust administration matters, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
  • Develop and implement strategies to resolve client challenges related to estate planning and trust administration.
  • Draft, review, and file a variety of legal documents including wills, trusts, power of attorney, and other related paperwork.
  • Assist clients with business formation, structuring, and operational matters.
  • Negotiate contracts, settlements, and other legal agreements as needed.
  • Handle probate matters from initiation through resolution, including representing clients in probate court.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and strategic advice.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and provide well-founded legal guidance on estate, trust, and probate law.
  • Stay updated on changes in estate planning laws and regulations to provide the most current legal advice.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience in estate planning, trusts, and probate.
  • Extensive knowledge of California estate planning, probate, and trust administration laws.
  • Ability to handle a diverse caseload with minimal supervision.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to clients.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop trust-based client relationships.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership with the California State Bar in good standing.
  • Experience in business transactions is preferred.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in legal research and drafting of estate planning and probate-related documents.
  • Experience with WealthCounsel and/or Hot Docs is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high degree of professionalism.
