Job Overview: A leading law firm in Northern California is seeking a Mid-Level Private Equity Associate to join its Private Equity Group. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience advising private equity firms and their portfolio companies in various complex transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, and equity investments. The position is based in either San Francisco or Palo Alto, offering a hybrid work environment.

Location:

  • San Francisco, CA

Duties:

  • Advise private equity firms and their portfolio companies on complex transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, and equity investments
  • Draft, review, and negotiate transaction-related legal documents
  • Manage a variety of general corporate matters for private equity clients
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure smooth transaction execution
  • Research and provide legal counsel on corporate governance and compliance matters
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and external partners

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in private equity, mergers and acquisitions, or corporate law
  • Experience in an AmLaw 100 law firm or with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)
  • Strong analytical and writing skills with attention to detail
  • Good business judgment and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with other team members

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active membership with the California State Bar

Skills:

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong written and oral communication abilities
  • Ability to influence and manage others effectively
  • Problem-solving and conceptual thinking skills
