Job Overview:

A law firm in Los Angeles, CA, seeks a highly experienced and dedicated Senior Immigration Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in immigration law, exceptional client service skills, and the ability to manage a diverse caseload. This role involves representing clients in immigration matters, including removal proceedings, family-based petitions, and humanitarian cases. The attorney will also prepare legal briefs, develop case strategies, and work collaboratively with law enforcement and community organizations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Explain immigration concepts and present strategic solutions to clients.
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage a caseload of immigration cases efficiently.
  • Visit and conduct intakes with detained individuals at detention centers.
  • Prepare diverse immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based immigration petitions.
  • Review immigration applications/packets, making necessary adjustments as needed.
  • Present to and collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on changes in immigration law.
  • Meet with potential clients for strategic immigration consultations and develop necessary case strategies.
  • Develop strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court and USCIS testimony.
  • Provide legal analysis to clients to identify potential benefits and outcomes.
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs for a variety of immigration cases.

Requirements:

  • 5-8 years of experience in Immigration Law.
  • A strong team player open to collaborating, strategizing, and working with fellow associates.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to handle complex client interactions.
  • Proven track record of advancing legal cases and managing a caseload effectively.
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR, Detained cases, Citizenship applications, and other USCIS matters.
  • Familiarity with Case Management Software is preferred.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the California State Bar.
