A law firm seeks a motivated and skilled Intellectual Property Litigation Associate to join its Wilmington, DE office. The ideal candidate will have experience in patent litigation and a passion for working with national and international clients. This role offers an exciting opportunity to engage in high-level IP litigation, with a focus on patent disputes. Candidates with backgrounds in electrical engineering, computer science, or computer engineering are strongly encouraged to apply, as well as those with experience as federal judicial law clerks. This hybrid position generally requires two to three days in the office per week.

Duties

  • Handle patent litigation cases for clients across various industries, including technology and pharmaceuticals.
  • Prepare and manage legal documents, motions, and briefs in support of litigation strategy.
  • Participate in discovery processes, including document review, depositions, and expert witness coordination.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to develop case strategies and address client needs.
  • Conduct legal research and analyze complex legal issues related to intellectual property law.
  • Assist in pretrial and trial preparations, including drafting pleadings and other necessary filings.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, providing updates and managing expectations.
  • Contribute to team-oriented collaboration, ensuring the successful execution of case strategies.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience in intellectual property litigation.
  • Experience with patent litigation is highly preferred.
  • Strong academic background, with an emphasis on intellectual property law.
  • Prior experience as a federal judicial law clerk is a plus.
  • A background in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science is a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while managing individual tasks.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present complex legal concepts.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the state bar (Delaware or ability to waive in).

Skills

  • Excellent research and analytical skills.
  • Strong writing abilities, particularly in drafting legal documents and correspondence.
  • Experience managing complex litigation cases, including preparation for discovery and trial.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Knowledge of patent law and intellectual property litigation strategies.
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills.
