Primary Responsibilities

  • Guide clients through the legal steps of personal financial recovery, including pre-filing consultations, case planning, and follow-up.

  • Prepare and file documents such as bankruptcy petitions, creditor matrices, repayment plans, and court submissions.

  • Represent clients in hearings, trustee meetings, and adversarial proceedings within both federal and state jurisdictions.

  • Collaborate closely with internal staff to manage caseloads, meet deadlines, and ensure compliance with procedural requirements.

  • Maintain regular and clear communication with clients regarding case status, obligations, and available legal remedies.

  • Stay informed about changes in relevant debt relief legislation and procedural updates at both the state and national levels.

  • Offer support to clients dealing with emotionally difficult financial circumstances, maintaining professionalism and compassion throughout.

Qualifications & Attributes

  • 1 to 6 years of hands-on experience in bankruptcy law or related areas involving debt resolution.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple files efficiently and with minimal supervision.

  • Skilled in drafting court-ready legal documents with precision and clarity.

  • Prior courtroom or hearing experience is preferred, particularly involving debtor-creditor interactions.

  • Adept at balancing client advocacy with realistic legal counsel.

  • Strong time management, organization, and client-service skills.

Educational Background & Licensure

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from a U.S. law school accredited by the ABA.

  • An active license to practice law in the state of Ohio is required.

  • Additional legal training or certifications in consumer protection or financial law are considered a plus.
