Duties:

  • Conduct prior art searches for patentability and freedom to operate analyses.
  • Analyze patents and scientific papers to assist with patent preparation, prosecution, and counseling.
  • Manage patent portfolios and develop patent strategy.
  • Provide technical expertise in cellular biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, immunology, virology, chemistry, organic chemistry, or pharmacy.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and clients to assess intellectual property needs and objectives.
  • Draft patent applications and responses to office actions.
  • Stay current with developments in patent law and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • 10+ years of patent prosecution experience.
  • Ph.D. or M.S. in cellular biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, immunology, virology, chemistry, organic chemistry, pharmacy, or related field.
  • Technical background in biological sciences and pharmaceutical sciences preferred.
  • Experience conducting prior art searches and analyzing patents.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and fluency in English.
  • Excellent academic record.

Education:

  • Ph.D. or M.S. in a relevant technical field.

Certifications:

  • Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
