Job Overview:
A dynamic law firm located in Ontario, CA is seeking a California-licensed Associate Attorney with expertise in criminal law and experience in post-conviction relief (PCR) matters. This is a remote position, with a primary focus on managing post-conviction relief cases, which may involve immigration-related issues. The ideal candidate will bring experience in criminal defense or immigration law and will collaborate with a diverse legal team to provide comprehensive client support.

Duties:

  • Advise clients on their legal rights regarding post-conviction relief, including motions to vacate, expungements, and early termination of probation.
  • Manage and maintain a caseload focused on post-conviction relief matters, with potential immigration implications.
  • Represent clients at hearings and provide case strategy advice following hearings.
  • Handle criminal defense matters such as arraignments, pre-trial motions, pleas, and sentencing, as needed.
  • Analyze the intersection of criminal convictions and immigration status, offering appropriate legal counsel.
  • Work closely with fellow attorneys, legal assistants, and support staff to ensure efficient case management.
  • Conduct legal research and draft motions and other legal documents related to post-conviction relief.

Requirements:

  • California State Bar license in good standing.
  • At least 1-3 years of experience in criminal defense or immigration law (preferred).
  • Ability to manage a high volume of cases independently while ensuring quality representation.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and clients.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Must be licensed to practice law in California.
