Associate Attorney needed for Roseland office

Job Overview:
A multi-state insurance defense firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its Roseland, NJ office. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with clerkship or up to 3 years of experience who is licensed in New Jersey and familiar with Court Rules and Procedures. The firm offers a collegial environment and immediate hands-on experience, along with the potential for advancement. A candidate with professional liability defense experience is preferred but not required.

Location:

• Roseland, NJ

Duties:

• Manage an independent caseload with oversight from senior attorneys
• Draft motions, pleadings, and discovery responses
• Conduct legal research and write memorandums
• Attend hearings and court conferences
• Conduct and defend depositions
• Participate in case inspections
• Consult with expert witnesses
• Attend mediations and assist with trial preparation
• Handle cases related to professional liability, construction defect, personal injury, and insurance coverage defense

Requirements:

• Clerkship or 1-3 years of experience in insurance defense litigation
• Licensed to practice law in New Jersey (New York license is a plus)
• Familiarity with NJ Court Rules and Procedures
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team
• Strong research, writing, and communication skills

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• New Jersey Bar License (Required)
• New York Bar License (Preferred, but not required)

Skills:

• Proficiency in drafting legal documents (motions, pleadings, discovery responses)
• Strong research and writing skills
• Experience conducting and defending depositions
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple cases independently
• Knowledge of insurance defense and related practice areas
