Job Overview: A law firm in Austin, TX, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Criminal Defense Attorney to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for representing clients in criminal cases at the federal, state, and local levels. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to delivering top-notch legal services. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is essential.

Duties:

• Advise clients on their legal rights and draw up legal documents related to their cases.
• Attend pretrial hearings on behalf of clients and provide strategic advice following each hearing.
• Manage court appearances and trials, drafting motions, interviewing witnesses, and performing legal research.
• Analyze probable outcomes of cases using knowledge of legal precedents.
• Manage a caseload efficiently, ensuring all deadlines and clients are informed.
• Provide legal analysis to clients to determine possible case benefits.
• Accrue additional evidence to support clients' cases or counter the prosecution's charges.
• Prepare clients for depositions; determine essential goals of case strategy and gather information from witnesses and experts supporting clients’ positions.
• Collaborate with fellow associates to strategize and provide mutual assistance on cases.

Requirements:

• Proven experience handling complex federal, state, and local criminal cases.
• Strong team player willing to assist and collaborate with colleagues.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is required.
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to handle high-stress situations and make sound judgments.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Must be licensed to practice law in the state of Texas.
