Immigration Attorney

Job Overview:
A law firm in Bakersfield, CA is seeking an Immigration Attorney to join its dynamic and growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with 1 to 4 years of experience in immigration law to further develop their career and make a meaningful impact by handling a diverse caseload. The ideal candidate will have the chance to work closely with experienced attorneys, represent clients in removal proceedings, and collaborate with a dedicated team of legal professionals.

Location:

• Bakersfield, CA

Duties:

• Explain immigration law concepts and provide strategic legal solutions to clients
• Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals
• Manage a caseload and ensure timely progress of all assigned cases
• Conduct intake meetings with detained individuals at detention centers
• Prepare and file various immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions
• Review immigration applications and packets, making necessary adjustments as required
• Work with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on developments in immigration law
• Meet with potential clients to assess their needs and determine appropriate strategies
• Develop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court and USCIS testimony
• Provide legal analysis to clients regarding the potential benefits of their case
• Prepare and submit legal briefs for various immigration matters

Requirements:

• 1 to 4 years of experience in immigration law
• A team player who is open to collaborating, strategizing, and working with associates
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with clients and colleagues
• Proven track record of managing and progressing legal cases effectively
• Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR, Legal Writing, Detained cases, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications
• Experience with Case Management Software is preferred

Education:

• Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active bar admission (or pending) in California

Skills:

• Strong understanding of immigration law and procedures
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage a diverse caseload
• High level of organization and attention to detail
• Familiarity with case management software
