Job Overview
A well-established law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its Energy & Utilities Group in Pittsburgh. The successful candidate will work on representing public utilities before state and federal regulatory agencies and appellate courts. This is an ideal opportunity for an attorney with 0-3 years of experience who has a background or interest in litigation, appellate practice, regulatory compliance, administrative law, and energy law. Exceptional academic credentials and strong research, writing, and communication skills are essential for success in this role.

Duties

  • Represent public utilities before state and federal regulatory agencies and appellate courts
  • Assist in litigation, regulatory compliance, administrative law, and energy law matters
  • Conduct legal research and prepare legal briefs, memoranda, and other written documentation
  • Engage in the development of case strategy and provide recommendations to senior attorneys
  • Participate in hearings, depositions, and other legal proceedings
  • Provide assistance with regulatory filings and compliance documentation
  • Work with clients to assess legal needs and offer strategic advice
  • Maintain and manage case files, ensuring compliance with deadlines and legal requirements

Requirements

  • 0-3 years of experience in litigation, appellate practice, regulatory compliance, administrative law, or energy law
  • Admission to the Pennsylvania Bar
  • Admission to other jurisdictions (District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Ohio, and/or West Virginia) is a plus but not required
  • Strong academic background
  • Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Exceptional communication skills

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications

  • Admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar
  • Additional Bar admissions in other states (preferred but not required)
