A law firm seeks an experienced Associate Attorney to join its civil defense team in Tampa, FL. This full-time position requires managing a range of litigation tasks from case initiation through post-trial, providing an excellent opportunity to further develop courtroom and case management skills within a dynamic team.

Duties

  • Manage an assigned caseload from inception through post-trial, ensuring timely progress and effective resolution.
  • Represent clients at hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials.
  • Draft and prepare a variety of litigation documents, including pleadings, discovery requests, motions, and more.
  • Prepare and deliver status reports to insurance carriers, detailing case updates and key developments.
  • Organize and prioritize tasks based on deadlines and billing requirements.

Requirements

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills for effective interaction with clients, team members, and court officials.
  • Ability to collaborate professionally with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff.
  • Skill in delegating tasks and managing priorities as needed.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities to manage case-related documentation and deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; experience with ProLaw is a plus.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed member in good standing of the Florida Bar.

Skills

  • Excellent legal writing and research skills for effective case management.
  • Strong analytical abilities to manage complex legal issues and case requirements.
  • Time management skills to meet billing and reporting requirements.
  • Familiarity with legal software and tools, particularly ProLaw, is beneficial.
