Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications related to biotech and life sciences.
  • Conduct intellectual property (IP) due diligence and freedom-to-operate (FTO) analyses.
  • Collaborate with clients and attorneys to understand and address patent-related issues.
  • Prepare and file responses to office actions and other correspondence with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Stay current with developments in biotech and IP law to provide informed advice and recommendations.
  • Review and analyze scientific literature to support patent application preparation and prosecution.
  • Assist in strategic IP planning and portfolio management for clients.
  • Support patent litigation and licensing efforts as needed.

Requirements:

  • A Ph.D. in Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, or a related discipline.
  • Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Experience in a law firm environment is desirable.
  • Experience conducting IP due diligence and FTO analyses is helpful.
  • Excellent academic credentials.
