Job Overview:
A well-established law firm in Chicago is seeking an experienced Real Estate Associate Attorney to join its team. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in real estate closing transactions and possess strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills. This full-time position offers a hybrid work schedule with opportunities for growth, both in responsibility and salary. The firm specializes primarily in real estate transactions and offers a supportive environment with the potential for revenue-sharing opportunities for candidates with an existing book of business.

Location:

  • Chicago, IL

Duties:

  • Review purchase and sale contracts for real estate transactions
  • Maintain and organize client files
  • Draft attorney modification letters and legal correspondence
  • Communicate with all parties involved in transactions, including real estate agents, lenders, and clients
  • Calendar contract dates and contingencies; draft extension requests when necessary
  • Prepare closing checklists outlining critical dates and responsibilities
  • Coordinate closings with all involved parties: buyer, seller, title insurance company, opposing counsel, and lender
  • Prepare closing documents and ensure accuracy
  • Obtain and prepare corporate documents, including authorization from relevant parties to purchase/sell
  • Gather closing figures from the bank and handle prorations for taxes, utilities, and rent

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience as a real estate attorney or paralegal specializing in real estate closing transactions
  • Must be licensed in Illinois and in good standing with the ARDC
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with clients and colleagues
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines effectively
  • Good judgment and ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable in public settings, with the ability to speak on behalf of the firm
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Doctorate in Law (Preferred)

Certifications:

  • Illinois State Bar Admission (Required)
