Job Overview: A prestigious law firm in New York is seeking a highly experienced Trusts and Estates Attorney to join its expanding private client practice. This role is ideal for an attorney with over seven years of experience in trusts and estates law, looking to work with high-net-worth clients and provide sophisticated estate planning solutions. The successful candidate will possess excellent client relationship management skills and be proficient in drafting complex estate planning documents, including those involving tax planning strategies. This is a full-time position with a competitive salary based on experience and client portfolio.

Duties:

  • Lead client meetings and provide expert legal advice on estate planning and trust administration.
  • Draft a variety of estate planning documents, including wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, and related tax-planning instruments.
  • Provide legal services catering to high-net-worth individuals, ensuring their estate plans meet both their financial and personal goals.
  • Oversee the administration of probate estates, ensuring smooth execution and compliance with legal requirements.
  • Advise clients on estate and income tax matters, incorporating appropriate planning strategies.
  • Maintain and cultivate client relationships to provide ongoing legal counsel and support.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of seven years of experience practicing trusts and estates law.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships and lead in-person consultations.
  • Licensed to practice law in the state of New York.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to the New York State Bar.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in drafting both basic and sophisticated estate planning documents.
  • Strong knowledge of estate and income tax planning, including irrevocable trusts.
  • Experience working with high-net-worth clients and addressing their specific estate planning needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle complex probate estate administration efficiently.
