A law firm in Rockville, MD is seeking a dedicated Family Law Associate Attorney to join its high-volume, complex, litigation-based practice. The ideal candidate will have experience representing clients in all areas of family law, including divorce, child custody, child support, spousal support, and property division. The role requires strong organizational, communication, and legal research skills, as well as the ability to manage a busy caseload independently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in all areas of family law, including divorce, child custody, child support, spousal support, and property division.
  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, motions, and discovery demands.
  • Conduct discovery and depositions, organizing and maintaining case files and documents.
  • Communicate effectively with potential new clients, existing clients, opposing counsel, and court staff.
  • Schedule appointments, manage own calendar, and ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Represent clients at court hearings, mediations, and argue cases effectively.
  • Negotiate and settle cases, striving for favorable outcomes for clients.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Maryland Bar is required; admission to the Virginia and DC Bars is considered a plus.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in Family Law is required.
  • Proven ability to bill 1,900 hours annually.
  • Prior experience as a Family Law attorney with a strong knowledge of family law procedures and regulations.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in legal research and document preparation.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and manage a busy caseload.
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to settle cases favorably for clients.

Experience:

  • 1+ years of experience in Family Law required.
