A law firm in Washington D.C. is seeking an Associate Real Estate Litigation Attorney with 2+ years of experience. The ideal candidate should possess expertise in litigating real estate disputes, including landlord-tenant matters (commercial and residential), drafting complaints and default notices, contract disputes, and construction disputes. Additional experience in fair housing, commercial bankruptcy (creditor side), tax sales, and foreclosures is a plus. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a team and independently, with strong writing credentials and excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills. The position requires current licensure in the District of Columbia and a license in Virginia or Maryland is a significant plus.

Duties:

  • Handle real estate litigation matters, including landlord-tenant disputes, contract disputes, and construction disputes.
  • Draft complaints, default notices, and legal documents related to real estate litigation.
  • Navigate the administrative hearing process efficiently.
  • Provide legal counsel on fair housing, commercial bankruptcy (creditor side), tax sales, and foreclosures.
  • Work collaboratively within a team while also taking individual responsibility for client matters.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • 2+ years of experience in real estate litigation.
  • Demonstrated experience in landlord-tenant matters, contract disputes, and construction disputes.
  • Knowledge of administrative hearing processes.
  • Current license in the District of Columbia, or the ability to immediately waive into DC.
  • A license in Virginia or Maryland is a significant plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Current license in the District of Columbia; immediate ability to waive into DC.

Skills:

  • Strong writing credentials.
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
  • Expertise in real estate litigation and related areas.
