Associate Attorney needed for Detroit office

A law firm in Detroit, MI is seeking an Associate Attorney to join their team. The successful candidate will handle diverse tasks such as drafting organizational documents, advising on corporate governance, negotiating contracts, and reviewing mission-related investments. Additionally, they will provide legal research and advice on tax compliance. The ideal candidate will be hardworking, motivated, and have a keen interest in the nonprofit sector.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Draft and review organizational documents, policies, and procedures for clients.
• Advise clients on corporate governance and best practices.
• Negotiate and draft contracts and other legal agreements.
• Review and provide guidance on mission-related investments and financial transactions.
• Conduct legal research and offer advice on tax compliance and related matters.
• Manage multiple legal projects and tasks simultaneously.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, particularly nonprofit organizations.
• Stay current with legal developments in corporate governance and tax law.

Requirements:

• 3-6 years of experience in corporate and/or tax transactional matters.
• Preferably experience advising or working with nonprofit organizations.
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Active membership with the state Bar in good standing.
• Strong interest in the nonprofit sector.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Exceptional client service and communication abilities.

Education and Certifications:
