A law firm seeks an experienced associate to join its Business Reorganization and Financial Restructuring practice group in Philadelphia, PA. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in sophisticated commercial bankruptcy practice, including both litigation and transactional work. This role offers an opportunity to handle a variety of complex cases in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, with the potential to work independently and take on significant client-facing responsibilities.

Duties

  • Represent clients in commercial bankruptcy matters, including complex restructurings and reorganizations.
  • Provide strategic legal advice for clients involved in business reorganization, insolvency, and distressed assets.
  • Handle both litigation and transactional aspects of bankruptcy law, including drafting pleadings, motions, and related documents.
  • Interact directly with clients, developing strong relationships and advising on legal strategies.
  • Conduct legal research, prepare briefs, and assist with case preparation.
  • Collaborate with team members on large, high-profile cases and manage significant caseloads.
  • Manage negotiations with creditors, debtors, and other stakeholders in restructuring proceedings.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in business reorganization, financial restructuring, and commercial bankruptcy law.
  • Proven experience in both litigation and transactional aspects of bankruptcy law.
  • Strong client contact skills with the ability to work independently while maintaining a team-oriented approach.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Must be licensed and in good standing to practice law in the state of Pennsylvania or another relevant jurisdiction.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the Bar in the relevant jurisdiction (NJ, NY, PA, or others as applicable).

Skills

  • Strong academic background with a proven ability to conduct high-level legal research and analysis.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex cases simultaneously and work under tight deadlines.
  • Skilled in drafting legal documents, including bankruptcy petitions, motions, and settlement agreements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and bankruptcy-specific legal software.
