Job Title: Institutional Response Group Attorney

Job Overview

A prominent law firm in Houston, TX, seeks a skilled attorney to join its Institutional Response Group. This role involves supporting institutions in addressing complex issues related to Title IX, civil rights compliance, and other regulatory frameworks. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to the development of policies, conduct investigations, and support educational institutions, corporations, and non-profits in maintaining compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Duties

  • Conduct investigations related to Title IX, Title VI, Title VII, and civil rights or criminal laws concerning sexual and gender-based harassment and violence, protected class discrimination, and harassment.
  • Assist organizations in designing and implementing trauma-informed, fair, and impartial prevention and resolution processes.
  • Develop written policies, procedures, and educational materials tailored to client needs.
  • Provide advisory services on compliance with Title IX, the Clery Act, child protection frameworks, and related regulatory requirements.
  • Deliver oral and written communication to stakeholders with clarity and precision.
  • Offer strategic support in systems design, governance issues, and institutional infrastructure development.
  • Collaborate with a diverse range of institutions, including educational bodies, corporations, religious organizations, hospitals, and non-profits.
  • Travel as required to support investigations, training sessions, and consultations.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience with Title IX, the Clery Act, and related compliance frameworks.
  • Demonstrated expertise in addressing sexual and gender-based harassment and violence, discrimination, child or elder abuse, and other forms of institutional misconduct.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to manage complex projects.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication abilities.
  • High motivation and the capacity to lead and collaborate effectively.
  • Licensed to practice law in Texas (TX).

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in the Texas Bar or eligibility for admission.

Skills

  • Proficiency in conducting trauma-informed investigations.
  • Ability to design and implement fair and compliant policies and processes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for client interactions and collaborative work.
