Job Overview:

A law firm located in Mountain View, CA, is seeking a highly qualified Patent Agent to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a PhD or MD in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, or a related field and at least 2+ years of experience in intellectual property. The Patent Agent will handle patent applications, conduct research, and advise clients on patent-related matters. This role requires superior academic credentials and exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal skills.

Duties:

  • Prepare and prosecute patent applications for organic, medicinal, and related fields.
  • Conduct patentability searches and analysis.
  • Draft and review patent claims, specifications, and related documents.
  • Provide legal opinions on patent matters, including freedom-to-operate and infringement analysis.
  • Advise clients on patent strategy, portfolio management, and intellectual property issues.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, patent examiners, and other stakeholders.

  • Assist in the preparation of legal documents and correspondence.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience as a Patent Agent.
  • PhD or MD in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, or a related field.
  • USPTO registration number is required.
  • Superior academic credentials.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
