A prestigious law firm in Washington, DC is looking to hire an experienced Senior Environmental Attorney. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of experience in private practice, government, or trade associations, with a focus on chemical control regulations and pesticide laws. Duties:

  • Advise clients on the regulation, testing, and reporting of chemical substances under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA).
  • Counsel clients on the registration, labeling, and advertising of pesticides under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA).
  • Provide expertise on agency rulemaking, enforcement defense, and litigation concerning chemical and pesticide regulations.
  • Collaborate with a diverse team on high-profile, long-term projects with prominent clients.
  • Engage directly with clients while offering mentoring and training opportunities for junior attorneys.
  • Participate in developing legal strategies and solutions in environmental law matters.

Requirements:

  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in private practice, government agencies, or trade associations.
  • Proven experience in TSCA, FIFRA, and similar federal or state environmental regulations.
  • Experience in the pesticide and chemical industries, preferably with prior work at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent judgment, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail.
  • Active membership in the District of Columbia or Virginia Bar.

Education:

  • An undergraduate or graduate degree in a scientific or engineering field is preferred.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the District of Columbia or Virginia Bar.

Skills:

  • Expertise in environmental regulations, specifically TSCA and FIFRA.
  • Strong litigation and enforcement defense experience.
  • Ability to build relationships with clients and work collaboratively with team members.
  • Exceptional writing, research, and communication skills.
