Mid-Level to Senior IP Litigation Associate Attorney

A law firm in Washington, DC is seeking a Mid-Level to Senior IP Litigation Associate Attorney with 3-4 years of experience. The ideal candidate will have a background in chemistry, biology, electrical engineering, or computer science to handle complex patent litigation matters. They should possess extensive experience across all phases of patent litigation, including discovery, drafting pleadings, writing briefs, and preparing and arguing motions. Excellent academic credentials, relevant law firm experience, and exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential. Bar admission in the District of Columbia (or eligibility for prompt admission) is required, with admission to practice before the USPTO preferred.

Job Details:

• Utilize background in chemistry, biology, electrical engineering, or computer science to handle litigation matters effectively.
• Manage all phases of patent litigation cases from inception through trial and appeal.
• Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis related to patent law and technical aspects of cases.
• Draft, review, and revise pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents with precision and accuracy.
• Engage in discovery processes, including drafting and responding to discovery requests and conducting depositions.
• Prepare thoroughly for hearings, trials, and appellate proceedings, representing clients' interests zealously.
• Provide strategic legal advice and counsel to clients on IP litigation strategies and tactics.
• Collaborate closely with clients, co-counsel, experts, and internal teams to achieve litigation goals effectively.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• 3-4 years of experience practicing IP litigation at a law firm, focusing on patent matters.
• Strong academic credentials demonstrating excellence in legal education.
• Background in chemistry, biology, electrical engineering, or computer science preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of patent law and litigation procedures.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
• Superior analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities.
• Admission to the District of Columbia Bar (or eligibility for prompt admission).
• Preferred admission to practice before the USPTO.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with PTAB proceedings and post-grant review processes.
