A law firm seeks a dedicated and passionate Immigration Attorney with a focus on Removal Defense (EOIR) to join its expanding legal team in Phoenix, AZ. Duties

  • Provide clear and practical guidance to clients on immigration laws, removal proceedings, and potential legal strategies.
  • Represent clients in both detained and non-detained removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage an active caseload, ensuring timely filings and effective case management.
  • Conduct in-person intakes and consultations at detention facilities when needed.
  • Prepare and submit a range of immigration petitions, including family-based applications, humanitarian relief requests, and removal defense filings.
  • Review client applications and legal documents to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with case strategy.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, and community organizations to stay informed on immigration law changes and community resources.
  • Conduct strategic consultations with prospective clients to assess legal options and develop case plans.
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for hearings and interviews with USCIS and immigration courts.
  • Research legal precedents and provide thorough legal analysis to identify case benefits and risks.
  • Draft persuasive legal briefs, motions, and supporting documentation for a wide array of immigration matters.

Requirements

  • 1 to 5 years of hands-on experience practicing immigration law, with a strong focus on removal defense.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage multiple cases simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Collaborative mindset with a willingness to assist colleagues and contribute to firm-wide strategies.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is strongly preferred.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and client communication abilities, particularly when explaining complex legal concepts to non-lawyers.
  • Familiarity with family-based petitions, humanitarian applications, detained case procedures, citizenship applications, and other USCIS processes.
  • Experience using legal case management software is beneficial.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
