Job Overview:
A leading law firm is seeking a highly experienced Senior Intellectual Property (IP) Transactional Attorney to join its growing team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in handling high-level IP transactions, including patent acquisition, licensing, and litigation funding. This position requires strong expertise in complex IP matters, corporate structuring, and leadership in sophisticated patent-related deals. The role provides an opportunity for senior attorneys looking to take on significant responsibilities and contribute to high-stakes IP transactions while working alongside a team of seasoned professionals.

Location:

  • Charlotte, NC

Duties:

  • Manage and oversee complex intellectual property transactions, including patent acquisition and licensing agreements
  • Advise clients on IP-related corporate structuring and strategy
  • Lead high-level patent litigation funding and other IP financing matters
  • Provide strategic counsel to clients on the protection, commercialization, and monetization of intellectual property assets
  • Negotiate and draft patent-related contracts and agreements
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including corporate and litigation departments, on multi-disciplinary matters
  • Mentor and supervise junior attorneys and staff members
  • Manage client relationships and contribute to business development efforts
  • Stay up-to-date on changes in IP law and market trends to provide cutting-edge advice to clients

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in handling sophisticated intellectual property transactions, especially in patent law
  • Strong leadership abilities and experience leading complex deals and transactions
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree (or equivalent degree)
  • Admission to the North Carolina State Bar preferred
  • At least 7+ years of experience in IP transactional work, with a focus on patent law
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large client accounts and deliver results in high-stakes transactions
  • Proven track record of successfully negotiating and drafting IP agreements
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the North Carolina State Bar preferred
  • Membership in other relevant bar associations is a plus

Skills:

  • Expertise in intellectual property law, with a focus on patent transactions
  • Strong understanding of corporate law and related structuring for IP deals
  • Excellent negotiation, drafting, and communication skills
