Insurance Defense Associate Attorney

A law firm seeks a highly motivated and experienced associate attorney to join a thriving multi-state insurance defense practice. The ideal candidate will be licensed in New Jersey and New York, with a solid understanding of the local court rules and procedures. Duties

• Manage a personal caseload with guidance and support from senior attorneys.
• Draft legal documents, including motions, pleadings, and discovery responses.
• Conduct legal research and write memorandums to support case strategies.
• Attend hearings and court conferences to represent clients.
• Take and defend depositions, ensuring thorough documentation of key testimony.
• Participate in inspections and provide input on case details.
• Collaborate with expert witnesses to strengthen case arguments.
• Attend mediation sessions to assist in settlement discussions.
• Prepare cases for trial and participate in trial proceedings as required.
• Engage in other litigation activities, as necessary, to support case progression.

Requirements

• 3 to 7 years of experience in insurance defense or related fields.
• Licensed to practice law in both New Jersey and New York (required).
• Familiarity with New Jersey and New York court rules and legal procedures.
• Professional liability defense experience is a plus.
• Ability to manage a caseload independently with partner oversight.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent legal research and drafting abilities.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• New Jersey Bar License (required)
• New York Bar License (required)
