Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking a Senior Patent Litigation Associate or Counsel with 7-10 years of experience to join its Intellectual Property practice group. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in patent litigation, particularly with complex technologies such as computer, software, wireless devices, and medical devices. The role will involve leading inter partes reviews (IPRs) and other Patent Trial & Appeal Board (PTAB) matters. This position provides the opportunity to work on high-profile cases, offer strategic counsel to clients, and mentor junior attorneys.

Location:

Duties:

  • Lead and manage patent litigation matters involving computer, software, wireless device, and medical device technologies.
  • Handle Patent Trial & Appeal Board (PTAB) proceedings, including inter partes reviews (IPRs), from initiation to completion.
  • Draft and file legal documents, including motions, pleadings, and discovery requests and responses.
  • Develop and implement litigation strategies in collaboration with senior attorneys.
  • Provide expert legal counsel to clients on patent litigation and IPR matters.
  • Represent clients in hearings, depositions, and trial proceedings.
  • Supervise and mentor junior associates, ensuring efficient case management and professional growth.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships by providing consistent and expert legal advice.

Requirements:

  • 7-10 years of experience in patent litigation, including handling PTAB and IPR cases.
  • Strong background in litigating cases involving computer, software, wireless devices, or medical device technologies.
  • Registration to practice before the USPTO is required.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage complex litigation cases independently.
  • Strong client relationship-building and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Bar in the relevant state(s).
  • USPTO registration required.

Skills:

  • Expertise in patent litigation and PTAB/IRP proceedings.
  • Technical proficiency in computer, software, wireless devices, or medical device technologies.
  • Strong legal research, analytical, and writing skills.
  • Leadership abilities with experience mentoring junior associates.
