Job Overview

A well-established law firm located in the greater San Antonio area is seeking a dedicated and values-driven Associate Attorney to support its Estate Planning and Probate practice. The ideal candidate may be a recent or soon-to-be law school graduate or a licensed attorney seeking to pivot into estate law. This is a full-time, in-person position focused on creating thoughtful legal plans including wills, trusts, and powers of attorney, while also assisting with probate matters. Location

  • Schertz, Texas

Duties

  • Participate in a probationary training period with mentorship from the founding attorney

  • Handle estate planning matters from consultation through execution, including:

    • Drafting wills, trusts, deeds, powers of attorney, and other estate planning documents

  • Occasionally manage probate matters from intake to final resolution

  • Conduct client consultations and follow-up communications

  • Draft correspondence (email and physical mail)

  • Coordinate with paralegals and other staff to ensure efficient file handling

  • Attend court hearings when required

  • Engage in ongoing legal education and self-study

  • Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in all legal work

  • Support firm operations through both collaborative teamwork and independent initiative

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school

  • Admitted or awaiting admission to the Texas Bar

  • Proficiency with Mac operating systems and Microsoft Office Suite

  • Ability to conduct legal research and draft legal documents independently

  • Strong attention to detail and professionalism in client and team interactions

  • Willingness to align with the firm’s faith-informed approach to client care and community involvement

  • Commitment to high ethical standards and personal integrity

  • Availability to process 15–20 estate planning matters monthly after initial training

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited institution

Certifications

  • Bar admission in the State of Texas (or plans for near-term admission)

Skills

  • Punctual, reliable, and well-organized

  • Friendly, approachable demeanor and respectful communication style

  • Self-starter with a collaborative attitude

  • Capable of managing multiple matters simultaneously

  • Spanish language proficiency is a plus
