Senior Real Estate Transactional Attorney

A highly regarded New York City-based business law firm is seeking a Senior Real Estate Transactional Attorney with significant experience in distressed real estate debt, workouts, and complex commercial transactions. Location:

Duties:

• Advise clients on workouts, debt restructuring, discounted payoffs (DPOs), and complex real estate loan modifications

• Counsel clients in transactions involving banks, CMBS lenders, non-bank lenders, and mezzanine loan providers

• Draft and negotiate complex real estate agreements, workout documentation, and related instruments

• Manage and lead high-value commercial real estate transactions from inception through closing

• Provide strategic legal counsel and business-focused solutions to clients navigating distressed debt matters

• Collaborate with firm partners and clients to structure creative and effective deal strategies

• Handle matters involving debt and mezzanine foreclosures (preferred but not required)

• Maintain strong, trusted relationships with clients and effectively manage their legal needs

Requirements:

• Minimum of 10 years of commercial real estate transactional experience, particularly in distressed assets and debt restructuring

• Proven ability to manage complex matters with minimal supervision

• Strong background working with institutional and private lenders, loan servicers, and investors

• Demonstrated success in client advisory and leadership roles

• Ability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

• Knowledge of the New York real estate market and lending landscape

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Admission to the New York State Bar (active and in good standing)
