Job Overview
A law firm seeks a Litigation Attorney to represent governmental entities and public agencies across Southern California. This role focuses on municipal law, public code enforcement, administrative law, land use, and community preservation. The successful candidate will engage in litigation, provide legal counsel at public meetings, and work closely with city officials and staff. Duties

• Manage litigation cases from initiation through resolution, including strategy development, discovery, settlement, trial preparation, and trial execution.
• Draft and argue motions in both trial and appellate courts.
• Represent local governments in state and federal courts on a wide range of legal matters, such as nuisance abatement and civil rights cases.
• Attend city council meetings and public forums to advise city staff and government officials.
• Guide municipal code enforcement, administrative law, land use, and real estate matters.
• Engage in community education and outreach regarding state and local laws, as well as compliance practices.

Requirements

• Active California Bar membership in good standing.
• At least 2 years of municipal law experience or 7-10 years of litigation experience.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, with an approachable and confident style.
• Exceptional research and writing abilities.
• Attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active and valid membership in the California Bar.

Skills

• Proven ability to manage complex litigation cases effectively.
• Expertise in trial and appellate law and motion practice.
• Familiarity with public law and municipal codes is a strong advantage.
