Job Overview:
A well-established law firm is seeking an experienced Senior Estates and Probate Attorney with 7+ years of expertise in estate planning and probate law. This position offers a dynamic, autonomous work environment where the attorney will receive a substantial portion of work through the firm’s lead generation and marketing channels, while also being expected to generate a portion of their own business. Location:

Duties:

  • Advise clients on estate planning strategies, including structuring assets to minimize taxes and maximize asset protection.
  • Draft wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and other estate planning documents.
  • Assist clients with probate, trust, and estate administration matters.
  • Help clients plan for incapacity through the use of advance directives.
  • Collaborate with clients’ financial advisors and insurance agents to create comprehensive estate plans.
  • Review existing estate plans and recommend necessary changes or updates.
  • Educate clients on estate planning topics, including gift giving, charitable giving, and asset protection.
  • Stay current with developments in estate planning law and advise clients accordingly.
  • Provide guidance and serve as a resource for clients' family members and other advisors.
  • Handle litigation matters related to estate planning, such as will contests and trust disputes.
  • Represent clients in court when necessary.
  • Meet all quarterly collection requirements and participate in the firm’s Attorney Bonus Program.

Requirements:

  • At least 7-10 years of experience practicing estate planning and probate law.
  • Excellent writing and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven expertise in drafting estate planning documents such as wills, trusts, and powers of attorney.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission (or eligibility for reciprocal admission) to the state bar in the state of practice.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a caseload with minimal supervision.
  • Self-driven, with the ability to generate billable work and maintain client relationships.
  • Experience in handling complex estate planning and probate cases, including litigation matters.

Education, Certifications, and Skills:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the state bar in which the attorney intends to practice.
  • 7-10 years of legal experience with a focus on estate planning, probate, and trust administration.
  • Fluency in estate planning concepts, including tax strategies, asset protection, and advanced directives.
  • Strong analytical, drafting, and communication skills.
