Associate Defense Attorney

A law firm seeks an experienced Associate Defense Attorney with expertise in civil litigation defense to join its growing team in Irvine, CA. The firm specializes in defending complex insurance bad faith, fraud, and Special Investigation Unit (SIU) claims. This position offers a unique opportunity to work alongside a team of skilled litigators, with flexible work arrangements, including remote or hybrid options. The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of civil litigation defense experience, with an interest or prior experience in insurance-related matters.

Duties:

• Handle defense cases involving insurance bad faith, fraud, and civil litigation.
• Conduct discovery, including taking depositions and preparing interrogatories and document requests.
• Prepare and argue motions in both state and federal courts.
• Assist in trial preparation and represent clients at trial when necessary.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys and legal teams to develop defense strategies.
• Manage case files independently, ensuring all legal deadlines are met.
• Maintain communication with clients to provide updates on case developments and legal strategies.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years of civil litigation defense experience.
• Prior experience or interest in handling insurance bad faith, fraud, and SIU claims.
• Experience with discovery, depositions, motion practice, and trial preparation.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to the California State Bar is required.
