A law firm in Chicago, IL, is seeking a skilled Litigation Associate Attorney with 3-5 years of experience in professional liability, employment, medical malpractice, commercial transportation, and general casualty defense. The ideal candidate will be licensed to practice law in Illinois, with additional licenses in Indiana and/or Wisconsin considered advantageous. Appellate experience is a plus.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage a diverse caseload involving professional liability, employment disputes, medical malpractice, commercial transportation claims, and general casualty defense matters.
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests/responses, and other legal documents.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings, including hearings, depositions, arbitrations, and trials.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to develop case strategies and achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
  • Provide legal advice and counsel to clients on litigation and dispute resolution strategies.
  • Conduct legal analysis and provide recommendations based on applicable laws and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Illinois State Bar in good standing.
  • 3-5 years of litigation experience in professional liability, employment law, medical malpractice, commercial transportation, and general casualty defense.
  • Experience handling cases through all stages of litigation, including trial experience.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Appellate experience in state and federal courts.
  • Additional licenses to practice law in Indiana and/or Wisconsin.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Illinois State Bar; additional licenses in Indiana and/or Wisconsin are a plus.
