Job Overview

A Philadelphia-based law firm is seeking a Special Education Attorney to support families of children with special needs. This role involves advocating for clients in legal proceedings, providing informed counsel, and collaborating with educational institutions to secure the best possible outcomes for each client. The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of special education law, a commitment to advocacy, and an ability to manage multiple cases independently.

Duties

  • Represent clients in Office for Dispute Resolution (ODR) due process hearings
  • Attend school meetings to advocate for clients’ educational needs
  • Conduct client intakes, assess cases, and determine legal strategies
  • Perform legal research and draft legal documents, including briefs and motions
  • Manage a substantial caseload independently and efficiently
  • Maintain client communication to keep them informed on case progress and developments

Requirements

  • Active Pennsylvania law license (required)
  • Prior experience in special education law or relevant work/life experience (preferred)
  • Fluency in Spanish (preferred)

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania

Certifications

  • Pennsylvania State Bar Certification (required)
