Job Overview:
A respected law firm is currently looking to hire an Associate Attorney to join their Workers' Compensation team in San Diego, CA. This is a full-time, permanent position that offers an opportunity to work with a team of legal professionals dedicated to advocating for employee rights. The ideal candidate will have strong legal knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage a diverse caseload while contributing positively to a collaborative and fast-paced work environment.

Duties:

  • Manage and resolve a docket of Workers' Compensation cases from start to finish.
  • Conduct depositions, including witness and doctor depositions (preferred).
  • Negotiate settlements and work towards case resolutions.
  • Provide guidance and supervision to support staff, including paralegals.
  • Maintain a positive and professional workplace environment, setting a leadership example for non-attorneys.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and all involved parties.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of Workers' Compensation experience.
  • Experience in handling a high-volume caseload.
  • Comfortable managing both legal and administrative tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct depositions, including medical expert depositions (preferred).
  • Must be in good standing with the California State Bar.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in California (required).

Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational abilities with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Leadership skills with a focus on mentoring and guiding non-attorney staff.
  • Skilled in negotiating and resolving disputes.
