Job Overview:
A prominent law firm is seeking an experienced Workers' Compensation Attorney to join its team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to represent employers and insurers in workers' compensation cases. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience defending workers' compensation claims, with a strong understanding of Illinois law and regulations.

Duties:

  • Gather and review medical evidence and medical records
  • Take depositions of claimants, physicians, medical experts, and other parties
  • Conduct discovery and perform legal research
  • Stay current with legal developments
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, findings of fact, and other legal documents
  • Represent the employer or insurer at hearings, trials, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and other legal proceedings
  • Communicate with claims representatives and monitor loss reports
  • Assist in investigating accidents and potential legal concerns
  • Manage workers' compensation costs to reduce liability
  • Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients
  • Submit required reports to management
  • Coordinate and attend claims reviews
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) and admission to the Illinois Bar
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in workers' compensation defense
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal laws
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook; experience with Perfect Law is a plus
  • Strong attention to confidentiality and client privacy

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.)

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Illinois Bar (additional Bar admissions in other Midwest states are a plus)

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing skills
  • Experience in litigation and case management
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
  • Proficient in managing client relationships and case strategy
