Job Overview: A law firm in Houston, TX, is seeking a Real Estate Associate Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have experience in construction contracting and development, providing transactional and litigation support across various industry sectors.

Job Duties:

  • Draft and negotiate design, construction, and development agreements in diverse industry sectors.
  • Negotiate EPC contracts for extensive infrastructure and energy projects.
  • Provide strategic advice to clients on claims management, change orders, extra work claims, delay, and construction defect claims.
  • Support construction litigation and arbitration matters, including drafting pleadings, discovery, motions, depositions, mediations, and arbitration hearings/trials.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing with clients, colleagues, and third parties.
  • Produce high-quality work products in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Adhere to firm policies and practices, meeting deadlines and expectations.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in construction contracting and related development work.
  • Familiarity with industry form agreements such as AIA and similar forms.
  • Preferred experience with litigation or arbitration matters.
  • Strong analytical, writing, and research skills.
  • Attention to detail and good business judgment.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as well as independently.
  • Admission to the Texas Bar is required.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Conceptual thinking and ability to influence others.
  • Persuasive communication and management skills.
