Job Overview: A law firm is seeking a Real Estate Finance Associate with 1 to 3 years of experience to join its team in Charlotte. The ideal candidate will have experience representing financial institutions, investors, and lenders in commercial real estate financing, including office buildings, shopping centers, hotels, and industrial properties. Candidates with experience in CMBS (Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities) or CLO (Collateralized Loan Obligation) lending will be especially valued, though all qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.

Location:

  • Charlotte, NC

Duties:

  • Represent financial institutions, investment groups, and lenders in commercial real estate financing transactions.
  • Work on financing for a wide range of commercial properties including office buildings, shopping centers, hotels, multifamily housing, and industrial properties.
  • Draft and negotiate loan documents, including term sheets, credit agreements, and closing documents.
  • Advise clients on the structure, risks, and legal issues involved in commercial real estate finance transactions.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to manage and execute complex real estate finance deals.
  • Conduct legal research and provide strategic advice on relevant laws and regulations affecting real estate financing.
  • Review and analyze lending agreements and related documents to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Requirements:

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in real estate finance, preferably in commercial property transactions.
  • Experience representing financial institutions, lenders, or investors in real estate financing matters.
  • Exposure to CMBS or CLO lending is a plus, but not required.
  • Strong legal research and drafting skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively under deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in North Carolina (or eligible to become licensed in NC).

Skills:

  • Expertise in real estate finance and commercial property transactions.
  • Proficient in drafting and negotiating loan documentation.
  • Strong understanding of CMBS and CLO lending practices (preferred but not required).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
